Two Ways to Sync

Run the EA, or just log in.

Both fill the same Trade Journal and both are read only. Pick whichever suits how you trade.

Trade Journal EA

Runs in your own MT5 terminal. Best if MT5 is open while you trade.

  • Syncs every 5 minutes and seconds after a trade
  • Adds the on-chart Risk and Stats tabs
  • Needs your licence key and Allow WebRequest

Investor password sync

Nothing to install. Best if you trade on mobile or don't keep MT5 running.

  • Enter your account number, server and investor password
  • Syncs automatically every few hours
  • Read only: the investor password cannot trade
Setup

Set up the EA in a few minutes

  1. Get your keyRegister free and click the link in your verification email. Your key appears on the EWI Trade Journal EA card in My Account → My EAs.
  2. InstallDownload the .ex5 file, then in MT5 go to File → Open Data Folder → MQL5 → Experts and paste it in. No compiling needed.
  3. Allow it onlineTools → Options → Expert Advisors → tick Allow WebRequest and add https://elliottwaveinsight.com and https://license.elliottwaveinsight.co.uk
  4. Attach and paste your keyDrag the EA onto any chart and paste your key into Licence key. The panel shows Connected once your history has synced.

The EA does not need Allow DLL imports. Leave that box unticked.

Or sync with your investor password

  1. Find your investor passwordIt is the read-only password your broker sent when you opened the account. If you don't have it, set one in MT5 under Tools → Options → Server → Change, and choose the investor password. Never use your main trading password.
  2. Open your Trade JournalLog in, go to the Trade Journal and accept the Member Agreement the first time.
  3. ConnectOpen Sync with your investor password, enter your server exactly as MT5 shows it, your account number and your investor password, tick the authorisation box and click Connect Account.
  4. Wait for the first syncThe panel shows Waiting to sync, then Connected once your history arrives, usually within a few minutes. Click Disconnect at any time to stop syncing and delete your investor password.
